![]() I am looking forward to whatever comes next in this universe – and find them to be suitable for all ages (well, I’d say about 9 and up). Invisible Emmie by Terri Libenson Maby BlackRaven Leave a Comment Invisible Emmie is another gem in the author/illustrator series of middle school. Holm, Invisible Emmie is a humorous and surprising debut graphic novel by Terri Libenson, creator of the internationally syndicated, Reuben Award-winning comic strip The Pajama Diaries. There is such a focus on romantic love, even at that age, that it makes it hard for people to realise that friendship break ups hurt just as much, especially when you don’t know what you’ve “done wrong” to deserve to be dumped. Perfect for fans of Raina Telgemeier and Jennifer L. ![]() The fact that there is a friendship break up in Just Jaime and it shows just how utterly painful it can be makes my heart go !! because that is so important. All the crushes, humiliation, boredom, and drama of middle school are compressed into one surprising day. We all know how tough it is navigating being a pre-pubescent kid, almost becoming a teenager, and trying to navigate the ins and outs of friendships, as well as school work, and these books write it so well. This is the story of two totally different girls-quiet, shy, artistic Emmie and popular, outgoing, athletic Katie-and how their lives unexpectedly intersect one day, when an embarrassing note falls into the wrong hands. I love that each of these books focuses on a certain theme, but they all have a focus on friendship as well. I adore graphic novels so much, and middle grade books, and to combine them both makes me very happy. Hello Select your address Books Hello, Sign in.
